My daily duties consist of
delivering civil process issued by the Justice or Small claims court
Precinct 4 . I primarily serve or deliver civil documents.
One document most commonly
delivered is a Citation. A citation is the first document
that a person would receive when a lawsuit is filed
against them.
My office also receives Citations,
subpoenas, forcible detainers and various writs from the
District, County and other Justice courts of Wharton County as well
as other counties. We receive and deliver Citations for Tax suits,
Protective orders, Child support suits from the Texas Attorney
General as well as Writs of Execution and Writs of
Garnishment.
A writ of execution is an order issued by
the court ordering the Constable to attach or seize certain
non-exempt property and sell at a public sale, certain
property to satisfy a judgment.
A writ of garnishment is issued by the
court after a judgment is received against an individual or a
incorporate. The Constable delivers the writ to a
financial institution which orders the freeze of the bank
account of an individual or corporation pending a hearing to
determine the defendants ability to pay a judgment.
During the School year, I work closely
with the El Campo Middle school, El Campo High School and school
resource office in attempts to combat truancy. I receive calls
from the principals and the AT-Risk Coordinator from both schools
when they receive information about student who are not in school or
need an officer to make a home visit. I work closely with the
JP Court to make available outside agencies who serve the Parents
and students. I serve as the courts liaison to TEXANA MHMR as well
as the Matagorda County Juvenile Probation Motivation
Day.
Texana
MHMR center offers the Star program and the
Stand program. These programs serve the parents as well as the
student. Parents and students alike are court ordered to the
programs when a Truancy case is heard by the court.
Matagorda County Juvenile
Probation department offers a program
called motivation day for students who are repeat Truancy offender .
They can be either court ordered to attend or a parent can enroll
the student with the program. The parents are responsible for the
cost of the program.
I also serve the court as Bailiff to
both JP and County Court when the court is in session.
