About Your Constable
I began my law
enforcement career in 1985 by attending and Graduating from the
Wharton County Jr. College Police academy. I was hired by the City
Of Palacios Police Department where I worked as a Police Patrolman
for 2 1/2 years. On April 1, 1988, I moved to El Campo after
accepting a Police Patrol position with the City of El Campo Police.
I worked night patrol in the beginning and as I gained seniority,
moved to working evenings and later to day shift. I also served
on the departments interview board where selected
officer would interview, then recommend qualified police
applicants for the next portion of the hiring
process .
In 1994, I left the
police department to work in private industry. While in private
industry, I realized my love for law enforcement and became involved
with the Wharton County Constable Precinct 4 Office as a Reserve
Deputy for 2.5 years, this allowed me to continue serving
my community, with no salary. My continued involvement in law
enforcement allowed me stay current with new laws and
practices while meeting training requirements imposed by the
Texas Commission on Law enforcement Standards and Education.
In 1997 when the former
Constable resigned in mid-term, I decided to run for the un-expired
term. I was Elected to the office and was sworn in June 1,1998. I
have since, proudly served as YOUR
FULL-Time Constable for 9 1/2 years in Wharton County
Precinct 4. Here is an outline of my Duties .
I have served
the citizens of Wharton County in the Constables Office
for a total 12 years.
I am married to the former Debbie Moore Rose of
Wharton Texas. We have two sons, Lee Rose of Wharton and
Westin Ferguson of El Campo.
I also served the past 10 years as a Director of
El Campo Community Events which coordinates the Annual Community
Wide Thanksgiving Dinner. I am also a Committee member of
the Wharton County Police Officers Memorial. I am a member of
the Justice of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas.
I am also an avid outdoorsman and a member of the El
Campo Rifle and Pistol Club and the National Rifle
Association.
Thanks Again for stopping
by.
